Stayed at the Beach House last weekend in July 2024.
Communication prior to arrival was excellent. Group consisting of 6 ( 2 parents, 2 children and partners) and a dog. Family holidays are a must to us as the children get older and this was ideal to cater for their various water sports and hiking.
The house was of an extremely high standard, well decorated, 3 spacious bedrooms. I favoured the downstairs bedroom as it allowed me beautiful unspoiled views of the loch. The garden was secure for my collie and he passed many an hour watching the sheep 🐑. Seals were more visible in the morning and you could hear them splash in and out. Oyster catchers were great to watch with the binoculars provided. A resident bunny seemed very happy in the garden and would regularly inspect us to see what was happening.
Movies and television were available but we spent the evenings playing board games. We ate out 3 of the 7 nights at School House, the Dunvegan and a vegetarian restaurant in the hills which you had with tea pairings. The kitchen had everything we needed and utensils to a high standard. We did go for a swim at the coral beach which was bracing to say the least.
Highlight was the owner of the Giant Angus museum, what a character!!
We loved our time at the Beach House, thank you so much for the care and attention you have put into this holiday let.
Mary and family from Manchester

Note from the owners:
November 2022: We have installed a new washer tumble dryer, new Roasting trays, large cooking pots and a slow cooker. Also a large selection of videos to include, film, sport, documentaries and comedy should broadband reception be patchy for streaming in poor weather.

Great location and well equipped property! We loved our time on Skye.

Wonderful place great location, local amenities near by highly recommended

Great house, comfy beds, great enclosed garden for the dog, lovely location. Just be aware if you do have an electric car, charging points around Skye weren’t always working. The house was brilliant. The welcome pack was very much appreciated and a lovely gesture. There are loads of books, board games and dvds – not that you need them as the views and walks will keep you busy.

We absolutely loved our peaceful stay at The Beach House. The cottage itself was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. We stayed in early January and we got snow, which made the whole area look serene and beautiful. The owner provided logs for the log burner so we were cosy and warm. The underfloor heating also worked a treat! One thing to note is that at this time of year most of the local restaurants are closed so if you’re looking to eat out you may have to travel to Portree, but the owner is amazingly helpful with restaurant recommendations. He also helped organise for the local sheep farmer to help dig us out of the snow when my Mini got stuck!

“To Andy & Jayne
We have just returned from a beautiful week on Skye .
Considering storms were battering a lot of Scotland we had beautiful weather. We travelled around finding some amazing spots and covered 1327 miles from home and back . We saw sea eagles daily the first two days we had seals on the rocks in front of the house. Eagles flew over the house every morning and hovered over the house to the left of the property.
Unfortunately Dunvegan Castle was shut for the season , but  we found lots to occupy us .
On arrival as a bit early we drove through Dunvegan and followed the road for a while and very luckily saw a pod of dolphins feeding from the roadside (beautiful experience)
When we arrived at the property we were welcomed by a warm inviting property. Beautifully presented.  Rooms were ideal and beds so comfortable and very much needed after a long journey.
Everything in the kitchen to be able to cook (although I had prepared most meals before coming to make the most of a restful break) fridge and freezer large enough to fill for a family to cater for the wk.
The property is in a beautiful area close enough to town if you want to get something or even head round for lunch or tea but far enough away from anything to enjoy the peace and quiet ! As mention previously wildlife was abundant and we saw deer ???? when travelling round too .
Walkers would be in paradise and Neist point a must if u like a good stomp . We saw dolphins here too but unfortunately missed the whale by a day .
All in all if your looking for a property with a bit of Everything then here is for you.”

“Dear Andy and Jayne,
Thank you for providing such a wonderful property in an amazing location, it was perfect and we had a lovely week, wish we were still there!
To top it all out daughter’s boyfriend proposed on the hill opposite Dunvegan Castle at sunset!
The Beach House and Skye will forever be a special place for us and especially them, so hopefully we will return.
Thank you again and we will definitely be in touch if we return to Skye.”
Kind regards

“Andy and Jayne,
We had a wonderful stay at the Beach House . We are enthusiastic wildlife watchers, and we spent a lot of time just watching the seals below, as well as many different birds. We were so lucky with the weather too.
Thank you so much, it was an idyllic stay.”
With best wishes

“Hi Jayne & Andy
We would just like to say a massive thank you for allowing us to stay in your beautiful cottage. We all fell in love with it?.  It was a perfect holiday and the cottage is in a perfect location for visiting the many wonders of Skye. We ticked all the boxes bar seeing an otter. We had an amazing trip on the Seaflower Skye from Portree to Rona with a fabulous seafood lunch on board. Although it’s not the the cheapest trip it is worth every penny. Also recommend the Skyeskins Tannery tour. (Just looking at ordering a rug from them)  Also had a lunch at Edinbane Lodge which was awesome. 3 Chimneys too.   We were all very sad to leave in Sunday and hope to return in the future.
Thanks again “
Kind regards

“Dear Andy and Jayne,
Thank you,
We had unbelievable weather. Having packed for typically Scottish weather we had to buy a couple of tee-shirts! We have been very lucky. House was absolutely amazing. Comfy, warm and well equipped.  Spectacular views. Wonderful area.
We spent all week walking and looking at the wildlife. Will definitely be painting some of the things we saw. Very inspiring. If we weren’t so far away we’d definitely come again.  An absolute treasure of a holiday with fantastic, precious memories- thanks.”

“We have just returned from a wonderful week at The Beach House Dunvegan. What a beautiful location on the edge of Loch Dunvegan.
The house was so well equipped with windows overlooking all the elevations from the Macleod Tables, to the loch and down towards the castle and Uignish peninsula.
We had mixed weather but the sunrises were fantastic and the seals were everywhere!
The fixtures and fittings are of the highest quality and the property is very spacious with our four adults, two children and two cockerpoos.
We will be looking to return in 2024. A great location and property.”
“Thank you for an amazing break. The weather was mixed but we managed to visit The Oyster Shed, The Fairy Pools then Glenbrittle beach for an amazing sunset. From The Beach House we saw spectacular sunrises. Over 50 seals playing in the loch, an otter and then a spectacular Golden Eagle in the garden. The house was comfy and warm and we did not even light the log burner. Spectacular setting and we will book again. Great for the dogs as well.”

“We had a most enjoyable week at The Beach House thank-you and found it a superb place to stay, we may well be back. We found the house well equipped and extremely comfortable. We really loved the location and enjoyed visiting Skye when it was quieter.”
David – December 2022

“We had a great Holiday. It was fabulous.
The house was so warm despite the weather being stormy. We will definitely want to book again.”
Gary – November 2022

“Thank you for an amazing holiday despite the weather. The storm was particularly interesting but forced us to have a couple of days relaxing in the house which in hindsight was just what we needed! We had no Internet for a day and I think we were one of the lucky few that still had power as most of Dunvegan didn’t. The daily seal visits provided endless fun though and we managed to count a massive 56 on the rocks the morning after the storm.”
Lucy – November 2022

“We stayed in the Beach house for a week at the beginning of November 2022. We can honestly say that we could not fault anything throughout our stay. The house is situated in the most wonderful position and waking up each morning to the view of the sea was amazing. The House is very spacious, tastefully decorated with a lovely log burner in the lounge, which, after a day outside was the best thing to come home to. There are three large bedrooms, two which are situated upstairs along with a family bathroom with a great shower. The owners have thought of everything from the littlest of items to the largest. No worries if you come back muddy, there is a washing machine and a tumble dryer in the utility room downstairs. A dish washer too, and everything you need if you want to stay in and cook. Just sitting at the dining room table and looking at the seals lazing nearby on the beach and the sheep in the field, this is a holiday which will stay in our memories forever”
Dean – November 2022

“We had a great time, the dogs loved it. The weather was a bit wet and wild on Monday and Tuesday but we were prepared with our waterproofs, the scenery was lovely.”
Susan – November 2022

“We had an amazing time at The Beach House Dunvegan and didn’t want to leave! The property was fantastic, location was quiet and surroundings beautiful. Our dog loved the spacious garden and watching the sheep and cows go about their day. Would highly recommend.

“We had a fabulous time at The Beach House! A wonderful house in a stunning location that was remote without being totally isolated. The house was comfortable, warm and welcoming and the various Dunvegan stores supplied everything we needed. Luckily, the weather was kind and we experienced peaceful sunrises over the loch, stunning sunsets and further afield the amazing sight of Golden Eagles and Ospreys. The heat exchange and ventilation system was amazing! A perfect birthday break that included a great meal at the 3 Chimneys. Many thanks

“Thank you for a wonderful week at The Beach House. The house was perfect, loved it.
Hilde 4/9/2022

“We had a truly wonderful stay at The Beach House. As people who know Skye extremely well, we weren’t surprised to find ourselves in the most stunning yet accessible of locations. The ever-changing views from the house are spectacular. Blessed with sublime weather we spent much time outside, however the house has absolutely everything you need and more. Perfect if you decide to cook some of the beautiful local produce on offer, or simply sit and relax and soak in the panoramic views from the windows then enjoy a restful sleep. We were spoiled with some phenomenal wildlife displays, on our last day we had a close encounter with a Golden Eagle just overhead, but perhaps the most special was the surprise half hour spent on the edge of the loch and shoreline watching a mother otter and her cub, wow, an experience we will never forget. Thank you for sharing your home, we will most definitely be back.

“We had a fantastic stay. Thank you
Gavin 21/8/2022

“The house was wonderful, both in style and location. We were lucky enough to see the otters playing in front of house on several occasions and the weather was kind. The constant breeze kept the midges at bay. We will definitely be back. Thanks again for affording us such a wonderful location to stay in.

“We had the most fabulous time at the beach house – thank you for sharing your lovely home. It was warm, comfy and had everything we needed. We worked through your suggestions – climbing MacLeods table and Glenbrittle beach being our faves. We also made it to the Highland games in Portree and enjoyed lunch at the oyster shed. We had never been to Skye and thought it was stunning. We had a delicious meal at the old school house…and also enjoyed the little bakery. One morning we woke to a family of seals on the little beach…and that evening an otter dragged his tea up (a large fish) and sat and ate it while we enjoyed our sundowners – we couldn’t believe it! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!”

“My family and I have just returned from an outstanding week at the Beach House. The property really is fantastic from the location to the quality of the fixtures and furnishings to the amazing views from every single window.

It is clear a lot of love and thought has gone into the development of the house and having stayed in other cottages on the island this is by far the best. Very nice touches for our dog too who loved being able to roam the enclosed garden and stare constantly at all the wildlife and ever changing views. Thank you for the lovely welcome gifts and for helping us create such wonderful family memories. We will be rebooking soon!”

“The Beach House is an absolute idyll. The house itself is luxurious and fantastically designed to maximise light, space and airiness. Windows are strategically positioned to give a breath-taking view wherever you’re standing or sitting, be it of water, mountains or moorland. The furniture and all the contents, whether kitchenware, TV, wifi, beds, tables and chairs, are fantastically-appointed and high-end. The climate-controlled heating ensures complete comfort, whatever the weather outside. In short, we have never stayed in a more comfortable, aesthetically-pleasing house.

And the location is out-of-this-world. It’s unique to find a house that feels so quiet, peaceful and private, but is literally a short paddle-board, swim or drive (!) from plenty of eating, drinking and shopping options. And Dunvegan village had a great playpark for our kids! The seals who live nearby made our frequent swims and paddles in the sea a special treat, being so friendly and inquisitive. The stretch of water itself is wonderfully protected and safe. The whole place made us feel like we were really communing with nature. Thank you Andy and Jayne!”

“We had a brilliant and very relaxing fortnight’s stay…The Beach House was good in every way and very comfortable. As remote as we could have wanted but close enough by car to Dunvegan if we needed anything. The view over the loch was beautiful.”
Teresa,  18/10/2021

“The house is certainly remote but has great views all around and over the water to Dunvegan. Very clean and well designed…We had a brilliant time, this is a very special place away from city life.”

“We had a wonderful stay at the Beach House. The house is set in the most wonderful setting with each window showing an amazing view. The house was very clean and well equipped. The beds were very comfortable and the shower was great. We would highly recommend it.”

“The Beach House was a wonderfully comfortable house for our first visit to the beautiful Isle of Skye. The location was stunning and I never tired of watching the weather come in over Dunvegan Loch and over Macleod’s Tables. Having a small colony of seals at the bottom of the garden was fabulous. Plenty of room for our walking gear and for drying it off! The weather was such that we stuck to the lower level walks which were plentiful and we will definitely be back to go climbing in The Cullins. A special thank you to the housekeeper – we arrived with the uncertainty of Lockdown looming and we found the house spotless. The modern heating system was so effective there was no need to light the log burner despite the weather. A really wonderful week and we would definitely return to the Beach House.”
Emma L, 08/11/2020

“We had a wonderful time at the house. A tranquil and relaxing place, where we were fascinated watching the seals in the Loch in front of the house. A good location to visit many popular spots and Dunvegan village on the opposite side of the loch had a well-stocked shop and pastry shop. The house itself is stunning and had everything we needed. Using the log burner, it became warm very quickly and lasted for hours with very few logs. We would definitely stay there again.”

“Beautiful & spotlessly clean house with stunning views from all windows. Contemporary Scandinavian style interiors. Garden runs directly down to the Loch with a seal colony playing close by. Only a couple of miles to Dunvegan with petrol station & shops.”

“A fantastic house in a quiet, peaceful and beautiful location. The owners have done a great job in making sure the property has everything you need.
